Frequently Asked Questions

Axe Throwing FAQs
Are the axe throwing hours the same as the brewery hours?
We wish, but alas they are not. Check our Booking Schedule for the latest available times. In general, we have times available on Friday and Saturday from 5-10 pm.
What is the cost to throw axes?
Someone from your group will reserve the lane online with a $15 deposit. The balance of $15 per person per hour will be due upon arrival.
How long does it take?
Sessions are one hour long and start every 30 minutes. We recommend arriving at least 15-30 minutes early to allow for check-in and getting your first refreshment, which leads us to the next obvious question ...
Can we consume alcohol while throwing axes?
As long as you are of legal drinking age, you are allowed to consume alcoholic beverages during your reservation time. We are a brewery after all. However, be aware that our axe coaches have full authority to restrict your participation in axe throwing based on your consumption without a refund.
Can we eat pizza while throwing axes?
Ummm. Yes? Just make sure you wipe your hand before you throw!
Do you offer walk-ins?
We sure do! We have four lanes and when they are not reserved you are welcome to rent them. We encourage you to check our Booking Schedule 2 hours prior to your visit to see if a time is still available. No guarantees but we will do everything we can do accommodate you.
What is the minimum and maximum group size?
Each reservation can accommodate up to about 12 throwers. For larger groups, multiple lanes can be rented at standard rates. To reserve our facility for a private or corporate event, see our events page and contact us directly.
How old do you have to be to throw an axe at Limestone?
If you can be 12 in Iowa and shoot a gun, what the heck, you can throw an axe as long as you have a legal guardian sign for you and throw with you. One parent/guardian per three minors under 18, please.
What forms of payment do you take?
Most major credit cards and cash. Sorry, no checks.
Does Limestone provide the required equipment?
Yes. We supply all the required materials including the axes. At this time we request that you do not bring your own axe.
Is there a league my friends and I can join?
Absolutely! Check out our leagues page.
What are the rules for axe throwing?
Our axe coaches will explain the safety and scoring rules during the first several minutes of your session. They will also help you out with your technique if you would like. For those that want to do your research ahead of time, feel free to review the World Axe Throwing League (WATL) site.
What should I wear?
Close toed shoes and plaid. For more info, check out this page.
